How To Stop Binging Series All Night

Must read

If you haven’t got the memo yet, then understand that binging is a bad habit! Yes, it seems to be the trend now, and there is some ridiculous competition we often find on the internet about how quickly you binge.

In short, how sleep-deprived are you?

These are not the lifestyle choices you should abide by. In this excerpt below, we will be discussing some of the best ways to get out of this bad habit.

Binging Is A Bad Habit

No matter how tempting the series is and how much you are peer pressured into watching it in a day. If you are someone with a stable career, working towards their goal, or have academic work ahead, binging can make you regret it later.

1. Download The Content

The best way to physically stop yourself from clicking on the little flash of ‘next episode’ is to limit the number of episodes you see. Now, the next steps could be a little dramatic, but once you get a habit of it, it will stop being difficult.

– Delete all the OTT platforms from your screen (Yes, all of them!). Can you imagine how much you will be saving? You can download them for free from the pirate bay.

– Download not more than two episodes for each day, and watch them on your bed comfortably.

– Switch off any internet connection, your wifi, and even mobile data in order to not feed any temptation.

2. Have A Night Routine

Sometimes we keep binging because we are not tired enough, or we are tired but fail to close the lid of our laptop. There is a difference between being the right kind of tired to melt in your bed and falling into a deep slumber, and then there is exhaustion which builds into frustration, and in order to escape that, one indulges in mindless binging.

Now, if you want to break this cycle and get into the good kind of tiredness which helps you sleep better, you need to start a night routine. Do not play your favorite series right when you enter after a long day.

Do other things which are more relaxing, like making your dinner, taking a good relaxing bath, having your skincare, having your dinner, and then sit for your limited episodes.

3. Stop Everything An Hour Before

If you have limited screen timing for the day, then try to stop every screen an hour before. Shut down your laptop, keep your phone aside, switch off your television, and then retreat to your bed with a book in your hand.

Do something more relaxing than watching a series that will keep you anticipating what can happen next. Get some admin work done if that helps your eyes to be heavy, and soon you will find yourself going to sleep earlier than usual.

By giving up the bad habit of binging, you will also be incorporating good habits like sleeping early.

4. Get Away From FOMO

The fear of missing out is common for everyone who is scrolling through social media now. Everyone is so scared of spoilers that they believe they have to binge-watch the entire show a day, or something catastrophic could happen.

This is a very unhealthy lifestyle habit that you should give up if you wish to lead a healthy life. Always remember that you are bound to miss out on something; just know that probably they weren’t that important.

You getting some spoilers about a series you will probably forget in a few days is not important enough to miss out on your daily sleep.

Habits Take Time!

Not binging all day is a good habit, and limiting your daily watch. You are surely trying to incorporate it into your life. You might give in to your temptations and binge more than you eventually intended. But, if you take it as a challenge, it will be fun. Other than that, the advice given above will help you keep the promise of not binging and only watch episodes as a reward for your hard work at the end of the day. Plus, sleeping in anticipation and finding out what will happen next is a feeling you will start to enjoy.
