An Oscilloscope or oscillograph is an electronic equipment that displays the shape of a voltage wave. Among the oscillatillographs cathode-beam oscillograph (CRO) is the main and displays a time-changing signal or wave shape.

CRO is an electronic instrument that displays a voltage waveform in a cathode ray oscilloscope. It consists of an oscilloscope tube, an amplifier, and a jagged wave generator. Adding signal voltage to the vertical deflection plate of the oscilloscope and jagged wave voltage to the horizontal deflection plate allow the electron beam to depict the voltage waveform to be studied on the fluorescent screen for observation, recording, or photography. It can be used to measure frequency, phase, voltage, study the characteristic curves of electronic tubes and transistors, make electrochemical measurements, etc.
